Spain is dispatching an additional 5,000 soldiers and 5,000 police to the eastern region of Valencia following devastating floods this week that have claimed over 200 lives, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Saturday.
To date, 205 bodies have been recovered, with 202 located in Valencia, two in the neighboring region of Castilla La Mancha, and one in Andalusia in the south. This tragedy marks the deadliest natural disaster in Spain's recent history.

Currently, around 2,000 soldiers are engaged in emergency efforts, alongside nearly 2,500 Civil Guard officers who have conducted 4,500 rescues during the flooding, and 1,800 national police officers.
